AUTHOR INTERVIEW: SUSAN SCHWARTZ

Susan Schwartz

Susan Schwartz has been a part of the paranormal and horror communities for some time. She has two real-life ghost stories included in the most recent Anubis Press release, Paranormal Encounters, which was a #1 new release in the occult parapsychology category on Kindle. Her two stories are titled, “Footsteps and Smells,” and “Orbs Flying.” Recently, she took time to answer a few questions about herself and her work.

Q1) Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I have been an avid writer for around 13 years doing everything from writing freelance articles to editing manuscripts for other authors. I also love to write horror stories that have a twist at the end.

My alter ego is an Operating Room Nurse/Nurse Educator who loves creating tales from the interesting and weird things I have seen. I am a member of the Horror Writers Association and the Virginia Writers Club where I serve as President of the Richmond Chapter and 1st Vice-President of the state organization. I have two novels in the works, a paranormal romance and a medical thriller. My non-fiction book, Haunted Charlottesville, is being released in May 2019.

Q2) What started your interest in the paranormal?

I grew up in a house where you would hear footsteps across the floor all night long. It was actually interesting to hear and then discover nothing there that could have caused them. I think that is what started me on this adventure when I was younger. I wanted to know how these things could possibly be real.

Q3) Have you ever had any paranormal experiences other than that which is in Paranormal Encounters?

I am a weird one. I get pushes and pulls sometimes when “things” are nearby. It doesn’t always happen and is certainly not an exact science. I have gotten chills, pushed, heard voices, and even pinched. I guess it is all part and parcel of exploring in that arena. You never know what you might see, hear, or feel.

Q4) Do you have any other works currently out that you would like to discuss?

Yes, I have a book coming out in May 2019 entitled Haunted Charlottesville and Surrounding Counties. It is full of historical accounts and ghostly visitors who are still in residence in some of the locations. It covers 13 counties in Virginia, including Albemarle, Madison, Nelson, Greene, Goochland, Powhatan, Cumberland, and Culpeper. I am very excited about this book, and I am currently working on another ghostly book about Virginia, possibly coming out in October 2019.

Q5) Who are some of your favorites authors?

Horror – Stephen King, Bentley Little, and Richard Laymon

Medical – Michael Palmer, Robin Cook, CJ Lyons

Thriller – James Patterson, Michael Connelly, David Baldacci, Brad Parks , Kathy Reichs

Q6) Are there any future projects you are currently working on?

Yes, I am currently working on a book on Haunted Virginia. I don’t want to say too much right now and give it away, but let’s just say that you are in for a haunting good time.

Q7) Why is your story in Paranormal Encounters important to you?

The Footstep story tells of the house I lived in that I mentioned above with the steps every night right to my bedroom door and stopping, but nothing ever materialized for a reason or cause. It was my first taste of the unknown.

The orb story took place on a Haunted Sydney tour in Australia. I enjoyed the various sites and background stories on the sites we visited. Some were quite sad, while others were quite tragic.

Q8) Is there anything else you would like to plug?

My newest work, Paranormal Encounters, just came out on Kindle and in paperback. Please see my website for more details at http://www.susanschwartzauthor.com/books.html.

I am very excited to be a part of this publication.
